Tipify Extensions - Pulse - tipPulseExt

Tipify Pulse Extension
This document guides you through use of the Pulse extension in the T-Star 245.  The Pulse extension is used to measure the demand and consumption windows based on other points by reading their raw data.  The Pulse extension will monitor those points to create its own power and consumption points.

Verify installation of the Tipify Pulse Extension
Note: The "tipPulseExt" should come preinstalled in your version of Skyspark hosted by Tipify on the T-Star 245.
1.   Login into the Skyspark environment through a valid Superuser or Admin account.
2.  Navigate to the Host App and select the Install tab.

3. Under the Install Tab scroll down till you find the "tipPulseExt" extension under the name column.

Enabling the Tipify Pulse Extension
Note: Enabling the Device Info extension is done on a per project basis in Skyspark and can not be done on the Host Level.
1.   Login into the Skyspark environment through a valid Superuser or Admin account.
2.  Navigate to an active project, then the Settings App.

3.  Under the Exts Tab of the Settings App, highlight the "pulse" extension.

4.  If the "pulse" extension status reads "disabled" select and highlight the "pulse" extension and press the Enable button in the upper left-hand corner.

Adding a Pulse Connector
Connectors can be discovered from the Connector app in two ways:
1. The available ADIO connector on the T-Star .
2. Any numeric point tagged with pulseMeter.
Pulse connectors can be created manually, but it is not recommended.
1.  Navigate to an active project, then the Connector App.

2.  Find the Pulse option on the left-hand side, and click the New button above.

3.  Once promoted with the new connection window, fill in the required information to create a new Pulse connection.

Note: The pulse extension also supports any numeric point tagged with pulseMeter.

Create Points and Bind a Pulse Connection to it
This will walk you though creating a new point that obtains its history data from a pulse connection that was created in the connection app
1.  Go to the Builder app to create a Sites and an Equipment.
2. The T-Star Info Connectors will be shown on the far right-hand side of the Site Tab in the Builder app.
3. Create a point under the equipment you created, and find the appropriate connection to bind on the list to the right.

4. Click the "Bind" button above the connectors list on the right hand side of the Site Tab to add the necessary tags to the point.
5. Finish setting the binding by adding the "his" tag, and setting the "hisCollectInterval" tag that will be automatically created with the his tag.

Configuration
The Pulse offers a few different points of configuration through tags placed on either the connector or pulseConn points.

Connector Config Tags:
  1. demandWindow - This tag value determines the demand window used in calculating the value of the "Demand" or "kW" point. Default value is 15min.
  2. pulseRatio - This tag value determines the weight of each pulse. Default value is 1.
  3. pulseSpikeThreshold - This tag value is the limit at which the pulse value can spike in any given polling interval (10sec) at which PulseExt determines that a value is "bad". This typically only happens when a Modbus or Bacnet value has come in incorrectly. We see this happen with wireless Modbus devices, and false readings can have a detrimental effect on revenue grade metering. Even if the tag is not present, this configuration has a default value of 1000. ADIO connectors do not require this config.
Point Config Tags (optional):
  1. pulseDWOverride - This tag will override the demandWindow tag value on the connector. This is typically used when two different pulses are both coming in via ADIO.
  2. pulsePROverride - This tag will override the pulseRatio tag value on the connector. This is typically used when two different pulses are both coming in via ADIO.
The default configuration for a discovered Pulse connector:
  1. demandWindow: 15min
  2. pulseRatio: 1
  3. hisCollectInterval: 1min
