T-STAR Platform - Firewall Tab

Note: The Networks Tab is only visible and available after logging into the Tipify Platform Controls through the Configurations Tab when first connecting to the Tipify Environment.
Firewall Tab
Firewall provides access to your firewall and its rules and ports.

Firewall
Generally the rules take within 30 seconds, you can see the firewall changes get saved in the logs. Once that has happened the rule should be applied.

Global Uplink NAT for LAN, WiFi AP configures the T-STAR to allow devices connected to the LAN and WiFi (in Access Point mode) to share the T-STAR cellular connection. In other words, it turns the T-STAR into a router that provides Internet access to devices on its local area network.

Note: Do not forget to press Save to complete the edit of the rule, and press Save again to add the new rule(s).

Adding a Firewall Rule
  1. Press the Green Plus button on the left hand side of the firewall page under the list of current rules.
  2. The fire wall rules create window will appear, containing different ways to create a firewall rule:
Filter Rule
Used to create a rule to open (or block) a port on the T-STAR. This only allows access to applications (such as Tipify) that are running on the T-STAR, and does not forward traffic to devices behind the T-STAR (connected to the LAN and/or WiFi AP).

Forward Rule
Shortcut to generate multiple rules for forwarding of incoming connections to devices behind the firewall. This allows hosts on the WAN, cellular and/or WiFi (Client mode) to communicate with devices behind the firewall on the LAN and/or WiFi (Access Point mode).

Generates one each of:
  1. Filter / Forward Rule
  2. NAT / PreRoute Rule
  3. NAT/ PostRoute Rule
NOTE: Each associated Forward, PreRoute and PostRoute rule will need to be manually deleted to remove the forward operation.

Expert Setup
All existing Firewall Rules will be edited in the Expert Setup tab when edited.
