T-Star 245 Description

T-Star 245 - Description

Description

The T-Star 245 Tipify Platform meets many Internet of Things Application requirements. It is an ANSI C12 certified tariff meter for both pulse inputs and with a Modbus RTU connected Veris CT package and its ability to connect to Building Automation Systems make this a good fit for Metering, Monitoring, Automated Demand Response and Analytics.

The T-Star 245 connects to equipment over a variety of protocols, including BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP and RTU, Haystack, and oBix.  The built-in 4G modem provides reliable and easy remote connectivity for data acquisition and diagnostics.

Connectors

The 245 provides the connectors shown below.

Voltage Limits
Pulse Inputs: 0 to +5V
USB: 0 to +5V
RS485: -7V to +12V
RS232: -25V to +25V
Warning: NO HOT CONNECTIONS ARE ALLOWED ON THE T-STAR. VOLTAGES OUTSIDE OF THE ALLOWABLE RANGES, INCLUDING GROUND VOLTAGE DIFFERENCES, MAY DAMAGE THE DEVICE, AND WILL VOID THE WARRANTY.

LEDs

The LEDs provide indication of some of the hardware features.

NOTE: Your label may show 3G or 4G depending on when it was manufactured. Behavior is the same.

Warning: Do NOT remove power from the device until the SYSTEM POWER and HBEAT LEDs turn off.
  1. SYSTEM POWER - lights up when receiving power through adapter and battery is operating within correct voltage tolerances.

Shutdown

The SYSTEM POWER and HBEAT LED will turn off once shutdown has completed and the system is "down". It is used in several ways:

  1. As a steady state indication telling you that a manual shutdown procedure with AC present, has completed.
  2. As a final status indication telling you that an automatic shutdown procedure has completed. If you don't get this LED indication right before power cuts off, then the shutdown was not able to complete. Such might happen if the battery is too low to maintain power through shutdown procedure.
  3. As the last thing that happens before the unit self-reboots, such as if it just completed a disk clean operation and needs to restart itself.

When the SYSTEM POWER and  HBEAT LEDs are off, it is safe to pull power and/or pull battery because all data has been written to storage.
